We, the Atkins, the Frosticks and a Formoy, arrived in sunny Tenerife for a family +1 holiday in February 2004 (I think). We were sitting down for food and I was sitting opposite Derek. Suddenly, whilst we sat laughing and joking, there was a sudden EXPLOSION! We all looked around in confusion. Then I looked at Derek and noticed a strange smoke like gas coming from his trouser pocket! Dereks lighter had exploded!! After the initial shock and confusion we all fell about laughing. Needless to say it became a running joke of the holiday and beyond!

I have never really been able to look at lighters in the same way again...
